As of 12 October 2012, the Technical University of Ko\u0161ice was accepted as an associated member of the project ALICE<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0at the European Organization for Nuclear Research\u00a0(CERN<\/a><\/strong>). On this occasion an article about our university was published in the\u00a0ALICE MATTERS<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0newsletter. Members of the\u00a0Center of Modern Control Techniques and Industrial Informatics<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0at DCAI FEEI TU are involved in project-related tasks. They started to work on upgrade of the DCS (Detector Control System) at CERN with an emphasis on optimizing the process of data exchange between online and offline databases (CHEP 2013<\/a>).<\/div>\n

Upgrade of the ALICE Inner Tracking System
\n<\/strong>Members of the CMCT&II<\/a> group at the DCAI FEEI TU of Ko\u0161ice are involved in the research task of Upgrade of the Alice Inner Tracking System, aimed at developing a Pixel detector requiring detection and identification of particles generated in Pb-Pb collisions at 14 TeV per n-n pair where in the final state, there can be thousands of charged particles. The collaboration on this task is a part of the intergovernmental agreement \u201cThe Memorandum of Understanding for Collaboration in the Construction of the ALICE Detector Upgrade of the ALICE Inner Tracking System\u201d, signed by CERN representatives and Ministers of Education and Science of the countries cooperating in this task.<\/p>\n

The international plenum of the ALICE<\/a><\/strong> collaboration at CERN, Geneva approved at 13 March 2015 the acceptance of the Technical University of Ko\u0161ice (as the only technical university in Slovakia) as a full member of the above mentioned collaboration.<\/p>\n

On 3 March 2016, the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport signed an Agreement on the Provision of Funds for Co-financing the Research and Development Project ALICE<\/strong>\u00a0CERN<\/strong> at FEEI TU of Ko\u0161ice for the period of 2016 to 2020.
\nThe guarantor of cooperation between FEEI, TU of Ko\u0161ice and CERN<\/strong> is associate professor doc. Ing. J\u00e1n Jadlovsk\u00fd, CSc. (Team Leader at TU, Ko\u0161ice).<\/p>\n
